Ann Marie McColm, aged 79, most recently of Kelowna, British Columbia passed away peacefully on December 16th, 2022. Ann battled numerous health issues for many years and managed to keep her sense of humour until the end.
Ann was born on September 27th, 1943, in Vancouver to Inger Kirstine Jensen and Lawrence Robert Coleman. She was the younger sister to brother John Coleman. Ann was a big personality in a little package.
Ann attended John Oliver Secondary School where she made numerous lifelong friends. Shortly after graduation, she married Donald Herbert Weber and they went on to have two children, Cheryl and Dan. Ann was a dedicated stay-at-home mom, with a custom license plate "TAXI", who ran her children and all of their friends to various athletic events and activities. She was artistically gifted and enjoyed many pursuits including ceramics, pottery, and painting. Her many tole painting projects have been shared widely.
In July of 1994, Ann married her best friend Eric George McColm and became a blended family with his three adult children, Andrew, Roger and Sheila. Ann and Eric had many adventures together, travelling south in the winters in their RV and going on several cruises. They settled into life on Vancouver Island and Ann spent her retirement years spoiling her grandchildren, gardening, and e-mailing jokes and recipes daily to family and friends.
Ann requested that there not be a formal service held for her. Instead, she suggested that family and friends gather for a meal, to share stories about "crazy ol' Ann", and to select one of her many cookbooks as a keepsake of her.
There will be two such gatherings - one in Kelowna on a date to be determined and one in Campbell River on September 9th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at her daughter's home. Ann's ashes will be spread privately by her children.
