SMITH (nee Clements), Annie Nancy

February 5th, 1934 ~ March 28th, 2008.

It is with great heartfelt sadness that the family of ?Ann Nancy Smith announces her passing

Ann was born in the small town of Timmins Ontario on Feb 5, 1934, the first daughter to Madeline Bertha Parliament and John (Jack) David Clements.

At the young age of eighteen she married Partrick Vincent Smith, an army sergeant in the Canadian 8th Hussars. The years of army postings around the globe were full with the raising of eight offspring. She tirelessly treasured her time nurturing her rambunctious young children and grandchildren. That defines Ann, a truly sharing, caring, loving mother and grandmother. Among her many talents Ann was a culinary cook extraordinaire (She made amazing bread!), and was masterful at needlework and enjoyed gardening and animals.

In the 1980’s she relocated to Qualicum Beach with her partner George Hopcraft where she continued to work in the service of her community as a home support caregiver.

Ann was predeceased by Pat, her first husband, her sister Jean Leonard and daughter-in-law Julie Smith.

Ann is survived by her loving family, partner George Hopcraft, children; Dave of Collingwood, Ontario, Blaise of Wabamun, Alberta, Deana McNish (Gerry) of Prince Rupert, BC, Adrianne McNabb (Rob) of Royston, BC, Lee (Dawn) of Parry Sound, Ontario, Patrick (Judy) of Victoria Harbour, Ontario, Scott (Cyndy) of Angus, Ontario, currently serving in the Middle East, Leslie Nichols (Jeremy) of Waterford, Michigan and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

To cherish her memory she leaves behind; Lynn Sherman, Terry Smith, sisters; Vera, Judy and Gail, brothers; Bill and Brian, as well as the multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and aids at the Arranglen Gardens and The Gardens at Qualicum Beach for their dedicated care of Ann these past few years.
