Barbara Ashton (Jones),
67, of Parksville, passed away suddenly June 4, 2012. Barbara was born on October 2 1944, in Bassano, Alberta to Dorothy and Charles Jones. She was the youngest of three children, and the only daughter. In 1963, she married her husband Bob Ashton. This past February, they celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.
Barb had a great love for her family. She was a fabulous cook, enjoyed gardening, golfing and in more recent years developed a love of travel. She was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and volunteer at Milner Gardens.
Barb leaves behind her much-loved husband Bob; their three sons and spouses, Chris and Darlene of Parksville, Cameron and Christine of Ottawa, Cory and Marta of Toronto; four grandchildren, Richard, Alexandria, Megen and Tori; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and their spouses, who reside in the Edmonton area. As well, Barb leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial will be held on Monday, June 11th between 2 and 4 pm, at the Lions Den, 241 Moilliet St, Parksville. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Barb’s memory can be made to a charity of choice.
