October 24th 1927 – November 30th 2009

Barbara Evans, beloved wife of Frank until recently of Nanoose Bay, passed away on Monday November 30th after years of illness. Barbara, who was 82 years was married to Frank for 6o years and is survived by her son Rhys and his partner Alex, daughter Sherry and husband Tom and Deborah her precious “other daughter”. Barbara also leaves her most loved grandchildren, Chelsea, Jordan and Rama and her most recent blessing, her great granddaughter Paige. She will also be missed by her sister Joy and husband Jim and their family, loving relatives Jean, Lawrie, Moira, Gary, Sophie and Dan.

Barbara was born in Manchester England and most people noted that she never lost her accent! She immigrated to Canada in 1955 with Frank and Rhys, arriving in Vancouver one snowy April springtime. Barbara and Frank worked hard to create a better life for their children and always appreciated the opportunities that Canada had given them. Barbara was an active member of the Girl Guiding movement, was involved in community work and was an excellent friend and neighbour.

For the past few years, Barbara has been supported by the wonderful care of the team of professionals from Trillium Lodge in Parksville. As Barbara said her goodbyes in her final days, she made sure that she recognized the caring wonderful support she had received. We will always be grateful for her time with the staff there.

A memorial service will be held for Barbara at

St Mary’s Anglican Church, 2600 Powder Point Road, in Nanoose Bay on Saturday December 12
