In Loving Memory ~

Barrie Brooks, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, in Parksville, British Columbia. Born on April 26, 1939, in LaRiviere, Manitoba to Charles and Mary Brooks, Barrie spent the majority of his life living in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

He is predeceased by his 3 brothers: Ron, Clare and Del.

Barrie attended Tec Voc High School and became an accredited Chartered Accountant in 1967. He started his career at Price Waterhouse & Co before being hired in 1973 as the new Chief Financial Officer at Ladco Company. Barrie dedicated 27 years to working for the Borgers family at Ladco Company and Borland Construction. He retired in 2000, but continued to serve on Ladco's Board of Directors to this day.

In 1984, Barrie married Joanne Spence, the love of his life. Together, they created a life rich with love, laughter, and joyous companionship. In 2005, they moved to Parksville, British Columbia, where they have enjoyed their retirement. For Barrie, a great day was simply spending time with Joanne, and enjoying each other's company.

Barrie is survived by his two children, Sean (Kristine) and Kirsten, as well as his two step-children, Gord (Cathy) and Sharon (Art). He cherished his family and was always there for them. Barrie especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his four grandchildren: David (Francine), Leah (Craig), Laura (Jonathon), and Austin; and his two great-grandchildren, Liam and Levi.

Barrie was a man of integrity, known for his candidness and straightforward approach to life, which earned him the admiration of everyone he met. He was careful and meticulous in everything he did. His true passion in life were his vehicles, which he cherished deeply, owning many throughout his life.

Barrie also had a soft spot for dogs, firmly believing that a house was not a home without one. He could always be counted on to spoil any dog he came in contact with.

The Brooks family would like to extend special thanks to Barrie's nephew, Daniel, and niece, Joy, for their love and support over these past few months, which has been greatly appreciated. Barrie enjoyed reconnecting with them after they moved to British Columbia.

Barrie Daun Brooks' story is one of dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
