Betty Doreen Fraser

Passed away in Qualicum Beach on October 25, 2010. Born in Victoria, B.C. to Stanley and Honor Rennison, Betty attended Willows Elementary and Oak Bay High School, and was a resident of Vancouver Island her entire life. Predeceased by her parents, her only sibling, brother Richard, her beloved husband Victor in 1994, and two sons, Richard and Michael.


Survived by four loving children and their families, Daughter, Diana Stocks (Greg) of Salt Spring Island and their children – Jamin Stocks (Bronwyn) – Jacob and Benjamin, Leah Byron (Josh) – Jaidyn and Sevannah, Tristan Stocks (Christine) – Michael and Daniel, All of Salt Spring Island; Son, Russell Gordon Fraser of Qualicum Beach; Son, Patrick Fraser, son Sean and stepson Jordan. of Toronto, Ont.; Son, Mark Fraser, Vancouver, B.C.; and by her late Son Michael’s twins Michael and Melissa.


Also survived by a loving family of her husband’s Nieces and Nephews and their families. Gerry and Marian Bowden of Eugene, Oregon; Janet and William Vallevand, Victoria B.C. Greg and Judi Bowden of Vancouver B.C.; Brian and Pat Fraser of Victoria. Pam and John Wooley of Cortez Island,

David Fraser and Bruce Fraser.


Betty had worked for many years as a floral designer in Victoria. She devoted many hours to volunteering at her children’s sporting events and later with Community Policing Offices in James Bay, as well as for 15 years in Qualicum Beach. A Pioneer volunteer and Past President of the Solarium Junior League in Victoria. Betty moved to Qualicum Beach in 1994, and has volunteered with the Emergency Preparedness Program, the Tour de Rock Cops for Cancer fund raising and served on boards for Mid Island Aids Society, Gatekeepers Program, and Victims Services. She was a Founding Member of the Oceanside Community Policing program.


At Betty’s request, no formal funeral will take place. It was her wish to have a Celebration of Life gathering for friends and family, with sharing of happy memories, laughter, music and smiles.
