August 12, 1935 - July 16, 2018
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Mother in White Rock, BC. The world has lost a beautiful soul.
Betty was born in Marienthal, Ukraine in 1935 and emigrated to Canada in 1948 with her mother and brother John. After attending school in Langley she obtained a license in Hairdressing and this lead to a 54 year career that she absolutely loved.
Betty's heart had no limits, she loved so many people and it was always returned.
Her greatest virtues were kindness, generosity, patience, resiliency and honesty. There was never a job too big or a problem too tough to tackle. Mom was a great role model for anyone who came to this country to make a better life. She was a very proud Canadian.
Betty was an avid fisherwoman, a budding artist, and an exceptional gardener. She was also a skilled seamstress. She was always up for trying new things-even trying downhill skiing at the age of 40. Betty could feed an army at the drop of a hat.
Betty and Alf moved to Parksville, BC in the early 90's and spent 20 years there enjoying the Island life with many new friends.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Alf in 2016. She leaves behind her children, Rick, Susan (Jake), David (Wanda), Greg, (Yamileth), Frank, Kathy (Neil) 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother John (Irene) and Mary.
A special thank you to Evergreen Campus of Care for their exemplary care for Mom and for helping us navigate through her long battle with dementia. A special thank you to Cindy.
Funeral services will be Wed. August 8, at 2 pm. Valley View Funeral Home 14660, 72 Ave, Surrey, BC.
