In loving memory ~
Dad gently took Mom's hand and said, come on, girlfriend, it's time to go. Mom passed peacefully October 18th with family by her side. She was born July 1st, 1934, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mom and Dad, Tom, were married in Johannesburg in February 1956 then moved to Calgary in 1957. Those years in Calgary were legendary.
As soon as their children could find their way home from school, Mom went back to work and spent a number of years in the insurance and financial services business in Calgary. When they retired, Mom and Dad moved to their beloved Qualicum Beach.
Mom was an incredible painter and her pieces were the envy of many. She loved the hours creating their masterpieces with "the girls." Those hours turned into lifelong, precious friendships. She also attended and was active with St. Mark's Anglican Church in Qualicum Beach, participating in many St. Mark's fairs and other events.
Special thanks to Claudine Basi HCA, Nicole Maedel RN, Comfort Keepers®, the Oceanside Hospice Society, the palliative care staff at NRGH and the Hawthorne Place staff and friends. We are forever grateful for your kindness, care and compassion.
Mom's quick smile, naughty sense of humour, grace and kindness will be missed by us all. She lived a blessed life, cherished by her children David, Sharron and Tracy, her grandchildren Lauren, Elizabeth and Ryan, her sister Dawn in George, South Africa, and many other family members and friends.
Well done, Mommy, well done.
