PERRY, Brian Francis

Died in palliative care in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on May 19, 2003.

Born January 16, 1921 Bournemouth, England. Served in the Royal Air Force. Brian immigrated to Canada in1947, living in Ontario, Banff, Vancouver, and Calgary, retiring to Qualicum Beach in 1987.

Brian was a pioneer of Rotary, Past-president of Calgary West and Qualicum Beach Rotary Club. Brian was to serve as District 5020 District Governor in 1998-1999 but his illness prevented this.

Brian was Qualicum Beach Citizen of the Year in 1997. He served many years on the Qualicum Beach Recreation Committee. He was a 25-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church.

Brian was an honourable man who lived his life by the Rotary motto: “Of the things we think, say or do

1) Is it the TRUTH?

2) Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3) Will it build GOODWILL, and better FRIENDSHIPS? and

4) Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”

We shall miss his quick wit, his wonderful way with a story and his strength and his courage for life.

Predeceased by his wife Ursula and daughter Romney. Survived by his wife Hilda Perry and son Christopher, granddaughter Tasha, grandsons Talon and Cody, step children Julie Pearce (Rick), Jim Pearce (Anne), Edward Pearce (Maggie), and step grandchildren Mark, Kyra, Alexandra, Jenna, Cole, Jordan and a host of friends.


A Celebration of Brian’s life will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church located in Qualicum Beach on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at 3:00 p.m.

Donations in Brian’s memory may be made to the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation at 102-663 Beach Road, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 2H7.
