BRIDGET EILEEN GUINEY (nee Docherty)

1923-2013

Passed away on May 18, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Bridget was born in Rothesay, Scotland. She lived in London, England, Germany, Detroit and Windsor before moving to Qualicum Beach in 1988. She and her husband, David, resided at Qualicum Manor in Qualicum Beach for the last three years.

Bridget was predeceased by her first husband, William Cahill, in 1950, and by her second husband, David Guiney, in March, 2013, her parents: Alexander and Helen Docherty, and her step-daughter: Heather Salisbury. She is survived by her step-son David, Jr (Lucille), Penticton, BC and step-daughters Brenda Schmidt of London, Ontario and Laura McGuire of Lambton, Ontario, her sister, Helen Buholzer, of Qualicum Beach, her sisters-in-law: Audrey Docherty, of Valetta, Malta; Vivienne Docherty of Capetown, South Africa; Alice Docherty of Windsor, Ontario as well as her nieces: Diane, Susan W, Susan D, Janet, Angela and nephews: Paul, Bill, Glenn, Michael and Alex. Bridget also had 6 step-grandchildren.

Bridget was a fixture on the streets of downtown Qualicum Beach, often seen walking her dogs Opie and Simon, and visiting with everyone who stopped to admire her dogs. She will be missed.

Bridget’s family wishes to thank the administration and staff at Qualicum Manor for their exemplary care and thoughtfulness shown to both David and Bridget in their last years. We appreciate it so much.
