Died peacefully in her sleep in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia on January 14th at the age of 90.

Carol is survived by her children, Sally Hamel from Bowen Island and Chris Beaver from Burlington Ontario; her son in law Robert Hamel from Bowen Island, her grandchildren Jeffery Hamel (Denice) - Vancouver, Jonas Beaver - Texas, Andrew Beaver - Hamilton and Nicolas Beaver (Stephanie) - Burlington Ontario; her great grandchildren Amelia Beaver, Eve Beaver, Louis Beaver from Gouveneur NY, Mallin Beaver, Mattias Beaver from Burlington Ontario and Ella Hamel - Vancouver.

Carol was born on April 5th, 1927 in London England. She served with the Women's Royal Navy during the Second World War. Carol married Gordon, an engineer with British Telephone in 1952. Moving to Canada in 1953, the couple welcomed two children into their home Sally and Chris.

Her children remember her as a graceful, kind, gentle, patient, proper, devoted mother who nourished and encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Carol was accomplished and talented and often provided support to friends, family and the community. Carol was generous, witty, devoted individual who loved to read and who was passionate about history and her family.

A celebration of life is scheduled for January 27, 2018 at 2 pm at theQualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club. Rev. Bob Long will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carol's life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society Lodge, Victoria, BC.

The family would like to thank her best friend Amber Doig, the staff of Nanaimo's General Hospital, the Coroner's office and the staff and friends at Origin at Longwood for their sincere efforts, care and dedication.
