“Carrie” Mary (Whiffin)

April 16, 1918 ~ June 12, 2009

Carrie passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 12, 2009 with family by her side, at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after a brief illness. Carrie was born April 16, 1918 in St. Lawerence, Newfoundland. She had lived in Prince Rupert since 1924 and settled in Parksville in 1992 after her husband passed away.

Carrie was predeceased by her parents William and Mary Whiffin, husband Ingvar Wick, two brothers Rupert and Herbert (Kay) Whiffin, a sister Leona (Bonnie) Sprinkle, sister-in-law Agnes (Ralph) Gaudrey, son-in-law Arthur Helin, and nephew Dennis Allen.

She is survived by her three daughters Anna (Gerald) Brown, of Castlegar, BC, Carole Helin, of Parksville, BC and Leona Murray of Maple Ridge, BC, and sister Emma (Peter) Allen of Crofton, BC, as well as six grandchildren Henry (Liz) Helin, William (Sue) Helin, Leanne (Jorge Vidal) Helin, Carrie (Darren Kennard) Brown, Russell and Steven Murray. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

No Funeral by Request

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and the Palliative Hospice Wing for their care and also the staff at Stanford Place in Parksville where Carrie resided for the past ten months.
