June 24, 1955 - May 13, 2021
Charlie Randle passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2021 surrounded by family & close friends after a year-long, very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 65 years old.
Predeceased by his parents Charlie & Pauline, he is survived by his soul mate, best friend & wife Lesley, his 3 children Rebecca (Jeff), Genevra, & Michael (Evelyn), and his step-children who he always said weren't step-children but his children, Jenaya (Sunita) and Jordan (Sarah).
He also leaves behind his brothers Joe, Neil (Joanne), Albert (Shelley) and his sister Pauline (Peter). He is also survived by several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charlie grew up in Nanaimo, and was an avid lacrosse player, playing in Nanaimo, New Westminster & Victoria. After graduating high school in 1974 he went on to BCIT to become a journeyman electrician. He spent his career in various mills on Vancouver Island, ending at APD in Port Alberni for the past several years.
He met Lesley at their 25th high school reunion in 1999, and moved to Qualicum Beach in 2002 to begin their life together. Together they opened Sports Traders in Parksville and owned the store for 10 years.
One of Charlie's favorite things was when he coached the Oceanside Intermediate B lacrosse team. He was so happy to be able to coach Jordan at a game they shared the love for. He loved fishing and golfing in his spare time. He was well known at Eaglecrest Golf Club for enjoying a game, helping the ladies with their games (watch the club hit the ball girls) and having a drink on the patio after.
Lesley would like to thank all the doctors & nurses who helped us along this journey. Dr. Graeme Bock in Comox, Dr. Robert Macarri, Dr. Sunil Parimi, Dena Guy, Dr. Corrie Layher, chemo nurse Sarah and all of the other chemo nurses, Dr. Ben Martens & nurse Kirsten, Dr. Christine Lee. Lesley would also like to thank the ladies of the 'Charlie's Angels' club.
Our hearts are broken and we are all just putting one foot in front of the other right now. We take comfort from all of the phone calls, flowers, gift baskets, and messages from family & friends. We know that Charlie is no longer suffering, and is smiling down on us all, after a round of golf, with rum & Coke in hand.
Our greatest loss is heaven's biggest gain.
A celebration of life will be held at a time when we can do it the way he deserves. Let's all give him one final GOPACKGO.
