GROAT, Christina May

The family, with great sadness, announces her passing on October 2, 2005 in Parksville, B.C.


She was the last surviving daughter of George who was born in Old Fort Edmonton and Barbara Groat who were both pioneers of the Spruce

Grove area.

Christina will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family: Tina (Don) Wilson of Qualicum Beach, B.C.; Jerry (Bev) Askey of

Susanville, California; Brenda (Fred) Sieck of Langley, BC; Darlene (Rob) Dingman of Edmonton, AB; as well as numerous great nieces

and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Barbara Orris, Aggie Askey, Claire Spracklin; brother Malcolm Groat and her aunt Mary

Macdonald.

Chrissee attended school in Spruce Grove and later worked for Swifts Meat Packing Plant which became her full time career. She was also

a lifetime member of the Northern Alberta Pioneers and Old Timers Association and well known in the Agriculture Society for more than

80 years.


A Memorial Tea was held at Trillium Lodge on Thursday, October 6, 2005. Foster & McGarvey of Edmonton, AB in care of memorial and inurnment arrangements.


Inurnment will be at the Pioneer Cemetery in Spruce Grove, Alberta on the Remembrance Day long weekend, date and time will be

announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trillium Lodge, 401 S. Moilliet Street, Parksville, B.C. V9P 2G9 in

her memory. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. C. Benton and the staff at Trillium Lodge for their care and support for

the past four years.
