Christina Melrose Dickson Carson (nee Spanswick)

February 20, 2013

Christina (January 14, 1926) passed away at 6:15 a.m., February 20, with a smile on her face. In true Chris fashion, she picked her own time and the 12 day vigil brought all her children and many grandchildren together, to share stories and serenade her with guitar, ukulele and violin. A few minutes before she crossed over, Chris smiled, sang a little bit, then closed her eyes and passed peacefully. We are all going to miss her, but we also know she is in a much better place.

Chris’s parents and sisters (Clair, Pearl and Elizabeth) were all waiting on the other side to greet her. Chris had a great 87 years on earth. Married to the love of her life, RCAF pilot, Kit (Lorne Rae) in 1945, Chris left her home in Edinburgh and came to Canada with son Ronald Bruce (Del) when he was 9 months old. Chris was only 21. Three more children followed; Philip Lorne (Julie), Barbara Christine Watson (Ted), Paul Rae (Kathy). The numbers multiplied from there with 17 grandchildren; Brandon Stephanie, Demian, Tamara, Teresa, Cody, Shannon, Tyler, Michelle Kendel, Darren, Carmanagh, Forrest, Cassidy, Joyalea, Wylder and Tananger, Chris also had 3 great grandchildren; Madison, Chase and Jasmine

From war-bride, to mom, to real estate agent, her life was happy and full. Retirement in Qualicum Beach, brought travel and pleasure with her family close by.

Chris’s family would like to give a special thanks for the amazing care Debbie and Barb provided for mom in the last few months. We would also like to thank the caring staff at The Gardens. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
