Clayton Herbert “Herb” Cottrell
August 3, 1932 – July 20, 2013
Herb passed away on July 20, 2013 as a result of an accident. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 55 years, Jean; sons, David (Cathy), Hugh (Theresa), Rob (Michelle); daughter Cathy (Craig); 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; many, many family members and close friends.
Herb was born in Toronto, Ontario, the eldest of 9 children. He grew up in South River and served in the Korean War. In 1958, Herb married Jean and they moved to the Kispiox Valley where they ranched for 14 years. In 1972, Herb and his family moved to Vancouver Island where he worked in the forest industry as a faller until his retirement.
He studied mathematics as a hobby, and also enjoyed walking, weightlifting and cycling. Herb was an active community volunteer. He will be sadly missed.
A Funeral Service was held at St Stephen’s United Church, 150 Village Way in Qualicum Beach
on Friday, July 26th, 2013.
