Clifton Smith Law

November 8, 2002

LAW, Clifton Smith

Eldest son of William Smith Law and Alice Ellen Howell Smith

was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on September 17, 1928 and died at Nanaimo General Hospital on Friday, November 1, 2002.

Clif moved to the Island in 1943, married at Oyster Bay and raised his family there. He moved down-Island in the mid-70’s, first to Victoria and later to the Parksville-Qualicum area. He retired from the building supply business there in 1997.

Clif is lovingly remembered by his brother Donald and sister Laurelle and their families; his daughter Penny and her husband John Rea; his son Richard and his sons Matt and Geoff and granddaughter Autumn; his son John and his son Kris; his daughter Pam and her partner Denis; his daughter Doralynne and her husband Vic Hodgins and their sons Bill and Rich; and his son Mark and his daughter Brittany and son Owen. He is also remembered with affection by his friend and former wife Peggy Law.

Memorial service to be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 591 Arbutus, Qualicum Beach, at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 12.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Clif’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Clif learned to drive at an early age, at first tractors on the farm and later at the age of ten, his mother’s new Ford Sedan. Cars and driving remained one of his greatest pleasures. A comfortable, well-running car and the open road—safe journey, Dad.
