Colin Lloyd Mosher

June 23, 1960 – November 1, 2014

It is with profound sadness that the family of Colin Mosher announce his sudden and unexpected passing on Saturday November 1st, 2014 at NRGH: he died of a massive cardiac arrest.

Colin was born on June 23, 1960. He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd (2010); mother, Jean (1983); paternal grandfather, William (1988); and paternal grandmother, Kathleen (2004). Left to grieve are his loving daughters, Cara (Chris) and Jenna; his devoted sister, Crystal; brother, David; nephew, Kane; aunt, Kathleen; best friend, Matt and many other close friends.

Colin was born in Prince Rupert, BC on his mother’s birthday. His family moved to Ladner in 1969 and then to Qualicum Beach in 1971. Colin lived in Nanaimo for many years where he, and former wife Holly, raised their daughters. He was later married to Kris and then divorced. Colin moved back to Qualicum Beach in 2011.

Colin worked at The Nanaimo Shipyards in the 1980s. Later, he and his father owned and operated the Queens Hotel, the Commerical Hotel and the Occidential Hotel in Nanaimo for over 25 years. He went on to be an owner operator for Island Farms, Medi Express and, for the past 8 years, Dynamex Canada Corp.

Colin had exuberance and passion for life. He was extremely proud of his daughters and had a close and meaningful relationship with each of them. He was a loving brother to his sister and valued the closeness they shared. Colin was a caring uncle to his nephew and enjoyed the times they spent together. He was also a loyal friend to many and had an easy way of letting people know how much he cared about them. He was also a dedicated employee who cared very much about his co-workers and his customers.

Colin loved living in Qualicum Beach and he felt proud and grateful for the home he was creating there, he loved his pet Henry. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, target shooting, cooking, kayaking, bike riding, gardening and cruisin’ in his 67 Mustang. He loved music especially by the Beatles.

Colin was kind, funny, generous, and real. He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Colin’s honour at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 8th at Yates Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Rd in Parksville, BC followed by a private burial in the Qualicum Beach Cemetery.
