Cornelis (Cor) Teunis MAAS

June 7, 2011

was born December 1, 1942 in Amersfoort, NL. Passed away June 7, 2011 at his home in Duncan, BC.

He is predeceased by his father Heinrich (Henk) and mother Teunisje (Truus) Maas and first wife Elaine.

Sadly remembered by his sister Mattie, daughter Cathy and son Kevin. Also his wife Lois and extended family Tina, Bill (Candace), Lisa (Rob) and Ryan (Leslie) also four grandchildren from the extended family. Many nieces and nephews here and family in Holland.

Cor emigrated to Canada from Holland with his family in 1953 to Qualicum Beach. After completing high school there he attended Vancouver Vocational School where he both attended and taught courses at night. From that point on it was a career in the “Communications” field. He was there in the early years of BCTV then BC Tele, Telesat, Rogers Cablesystems and most recently retiring from Shaw Communications Inc.

He had a lifelong passion for ham radio and was an active supporter of any system using the airwaves. He was an award winning member of his profession who was well respected by his peers.

To all he met he was a kind and gentle man who always listened even when we didn’t and that will be our memory of him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 25th at 1pm or 13:00 at First Memorial, 375 Brae Rd. Duncan, BC, Tea to follow.
