In the early hours of October 19th my beautiful daughter Danika slipped away from me and her sister.
She had just turned 39. As her Mama I was always in awe of her indomitable spirit and strong level of confidence.
A bright artistic child Danika grew into a kind, intelligent woman with an innate sense of style.
A love of language and travel took her to Mexico to teach school soon after she finished university. The
people and culture of the country enraptured Danika and she quickly made her home in San Miguel De Allende with her one true love Rene. They had a lovely home with an open-door policy. Danika was an excellent tour guide sharing the country she loved so much. She was happy. She loved Rene and their
life. Over her many years of teaching she became a highly respected colleague and mentor to her many
students, both children and adults. Returning to Canada in 2017 Danika moved in with her sister and family.
She spent the next two years fitting in as many happy experiences as possible with her many friends and family, returning home once for a few weeks. With true class Danika entered the last phase of her life with humility and grace, often laying aside her own suffering to mentor and support the young cancer friends she met. Danika was deeply loved by her Mama Evelyn, sister Naomi, brother in law Frazer, nephews Milo and Atticus who she adored, Rene and her special kitty Camilo. As a rescuer of many cats she asks anyone who wishes, to donate to a cat rescue of their choice.
