In Loving Memory (1946-2022) ~
David E. Blackmore passed away peacefully at Trillium Hospice in Parksville on November 4 at 75 years of age. Born in Claresholm, Alberta in 1946, he is survived by wife of 53 years, Marva Blackmore.
Lovingly remembered by his two children, Eric Blackmore (Jennifer) of Ottawa, ON, and Beth Lanuk (Mikki) of Medicine Hat, AB, and his two brothers, Robert of Sherwood Park, AB, and John of Lantzville, BC. He leaves behind five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
After a distinguished career as an educator and statistics expert, he changed the landscape of medical testing and certification, not only in Canada, but around the world.
He retired from the Medical Council of Canada and moved to Qualicum Beach where he pursued his passions of art, photography, and music.
His mural of salmon spawning graced the side of the Bus Barn until it was demolished. He took amazing photos when he and Marva traveled the world. He was also Marva's stalwart supporter in her storytelling and publishing ventures.
He gave back to the community whenever he could whether it be Forward House, 4-H, TOSH, the MAC, and the Qualicum Beach Probus Club to name but a few.
At his request, there will be no service. He did request that there be a private gathering later to tell stories and toast his life.
Donations in his honour may be made to Forward House (136 Hirst Avenue E, Parksville, BC).
