Dawneen passed away peacefully at her home in Saanichton, B.C. surrounded by family. Born in Toronto, Dawneen taught at Pauline Avenue Public School before marrying Major John H. Cooper and raising their four children in various military postings. In 1977 the family moved to Hilliers, BC and in later years she lived in Qualicum, Parksville, Port Hardy and Saanichton on Vancouver Island.
In 2002 she married John T. Allen with whom she shared happy years in Parksville, BC. Dawneen had a strong faith in God throughout her life, loved her family deeply and was a faithful friend. She was kind, generous, funny and thoughtful, and was interested in the world around her. She loved to share family stories and reminiscences. She is dearly loved and deeply missed.
Predeceased by husband John H. Cooper 1990 and John T. Allen 2007. Survived by children Cathryn Langdon (Dave), Heather Jones (Mark), John Cooper (Patti) and Anne Cooper; grandchildren Beth, Gareth, Hayley, Claire, Laura, Jack, Ben, sisters Gwen Merkley (Paul) and Lawrie Barton (Simon); nieces, nephews and their families.

Service at St. Anne's Parksville August 2, 2018 at 1:30 pm. A visitation viewing will be held at the church prior to the service from 12:00- 1:00 pm. A reception tea will follow the service.
