Derrick J. Rockhill

July 14, 1956 - September 16, 2017

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father Derrick Rockhill, 61, of North Vancouver.

He was born in West Vancouver, the eldest son of Jim and Louise Rockhill.

He is survived by his mother Louise (Belevance), loving wife Melanie (Banner), sons Brandon and Carson, brother Robert (Dawn), sister Michelle, and many loving extended family members.

Derrick worked as a Boilermaker before joining the Film industry. After a workplace accident, he returned to school to earn his diploma in occupational health and safety at BCIT. He was an active volunteer with the BC Federation of Labour before being hired as an Assistant Shop Steward advocating for workplace safety with IATSE local 891.

Derrick lived every minute to the fullest! He was an avid hiker and accomplished mountain bike racer. He was a proud father, who loved spending time with his family and friends. His outgoing nature, bright smile, roaring laugh, and warm sense of humour always lit up the room.

He left this world doing what he loved, riding the Top of the World trail in Whistler.

May his spirit rest with the sun overhead, the wind in his face, and love in his heart.

Derrick's Celebration of Life will be held Sept. 30th, from 2pm - 4pm at the Rockhill Ranch 26643 58th Ave, Langley, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Shore Search and Rescue.
