JUST AS I AM ~
"The Final Word" is the title of one of my songs in my first album, "Just As I Am". Today I write them here to thank everyone that made my life the joy and adventure it was. I fit the lives of three men in the time I spent with all of you and I pass today knowing that each and everyone of you contributed to the abundant life I lived.
Making music was my first love and stayed with me till the end. The trophies, plaques and accolades were an honor to receive, as was taking center stage at Expo 86 and working tours throughout North America, but the best of times were small cozy bars, barn dances and just picking it out with the rest of the crew. Thank you all again.
I found the time to return to education and received a number of degrees from the University of British Columbia, from Law to Aboriginal Studies. I got the opportunity to work towards Reconciliation. Though, once again, as with music, the best of times were the times I aided individuals in need with legal aid and conflict resolution. It is the small triumphs that allow you to share the greatest joys. Thank you all again.
Now "The Final Word", I may have been slow to my final joy, but, I did jump in the deep end and have never looked back. Marriage to my wonderful wife, a partnership that remains time tested and true, and the wonder found in my children, their children and a great grandchild too. Through love and loss, trials and tributes, through grief and joy, family is the only answer and love the final word. Thank you all again.
Now I leave the stage knowing you will all carry on with hearts full of love, minds willing to learn and the unity that makes Family.
Look in the mirror every morning and challenge the person you see to be better, do better and take pride in who you are.
Good Bye for now
In lieu of flowers please buy children musical instruments.
