Donald Allan Bishop
March 17, 1936 ~ March 18, 2016
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Don passed away peacefully in Nanaimo on Friday, March 18, 2016. He was born in New Westminster, and grew up in Haney. As a young man, Don relocated to Port Coquitlam, Victoria, and finally settled in Parksville in 1991.
Don worked at Park & Tilford in North Vancouver until he became a Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector in October of 1981. Highly respected in his field, Don retired in March of 2015 at the age of 79. When not hard at work, he loved to fish and work in his garden.
Don is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn; children, Gary, Raymond, Colleen and Randy; 13 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and siblings Arlene Simcox (nee Bishop), Cherie Franklin (nee Bishop) and Malcomn Bishop. Don was predeceased by his son, Dale in December 2013 and his parents, Tom and Lillian Bishop.
A Celebration of Life will be announced later.
