Wales, Donald “Donny”
Donald Wales, known to many friends as
“Donny” or “the Outlaw” passed away on
October 2nd, 2016 at the age of 86 years.
Donny was a native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England where he graduated with an engineering degree in 1954. As a young man, Donny was an accomplished cyclist competing in many races throughout the UK.
After a brief stint with the British Air Force, Donny moved to Canada where he worked as an engineer in the city of Toronto until his retirement in 1989.
Always an avid golfer, Donny moved to Madrona with his partner “Lil” to enjoy the year-long golf available here on Vancouver Island.
He had many fond memories of playing rounds at Morningstar, Fairwinds and QB Memorial. After the loss of the love of his life “Lil”, Donny moved to the French Creek area where he enjoyed his pints with friends at the French Creek Marina pub.
The “Outlaw” will be fondly remembered for his colorful story telling in his distinctive Geordie accent. Rest in peace Mr. Wales.
There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday,
October 15 at 2pm, at the Parksville Legion.
