WREN, Donald Harry

May 25, 1925 – August 30, 2006

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather. Don leaves to mourn, his wife Norma of 57 years, daughters Donna (Ken) Hofforth, Karen (Greg) Kaufman, Joan (Ted) Oledzki, Joyce (Peter) Redweik and eight grandchildren.

Don was born in Edmonton and proudly served in the RCAF from 1943 – 1946. Upon returning to Edmonton, he met Norma and they were married on May 7, 1949, and raised four daughters together. Don worked for AGT for 33 years and retired in 1981. He enjoyed a long retirement with Norma on Vancouver Island. They enjoyed many hours of sailing and salmon fishing together. Don took up woodcarving and showed his creative side in this hobby. He also enjoyed preparing wonderful Chinese food dinners for his family and friends. Don and Norma traveled extensively and enjoyed every trip they had together, as well as trips they took with their family. Don volunteered for 9 years on the board of Trillium Lodge in Parksville, and was involved in the Rotary Clubs in Edmonton as well as in Parksville.

A service celebrating Don’s life will be held at St. Columba Presbyterian Church, 921 Wembley Road, Parksville, on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Vancouver Island Cancer Lodge, 2202 Richmond Road, Victoria, BC V9R 4R5.
