It is with great sadness that the family of Donna St. Clair Farkas (Dawson) announces her passing on Monday, January 31, 2011. Donna of Hilliers, BC passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband, one day after her 66th birthday.
Donna was born in January 30, 1945 in Victoria, BC. It was in her teenage years that she met her husband at her family home on Southgate through family members and mutual friends. On July 11, 1964 she was married to Thomas Farkas at the First United Church in Victoria, BC. In 1966, they moved to their current residence in Hilliers where they created a life together and started their family. Donna will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband and friend of 46 years Tom, and her children Gay-Lynn and Susan (Peter). Donna will also be fondly remembered and missed by her three grandchildren Laquisa, Ayden and Benjamin.
Donna loved good food, enjoyed baking and entertaining, visiting with friends and relatives, and travelling, she was always willing to give a helping hand and support to others. Donna was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren. Donna was actively involved in volunteering and participating in the community; over 30 years within the Guiding movement, long time member of the Grace United Church, sorority member with Beta Sigma Phi.
A celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on February 19, 2011 at the Coombs Fair Grounds, Arrowsmith Hall. Bruce McIntyre and Mas Iwasawa presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mrs. Farkas’ memory can be made to the Grace United Church, Coombs.
