Dora Margaret Davies

February 5, 2011

June 21, 1910 - February 5, 2011

Dora passed away peacefully at her home at The Gardens, Qualicum Beach, BC, on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011. Dora will be sadly missed by her extended family, sons H. Derby Grossman (Donna), Bowser, BC and Terry Grossman, Sooke, BC; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Durfeld (Ric), Donald Grossman (Tracy), Leah Ramsay (Dave), Kerry Cook (Dan), Kim Rolf von den Baumen (Andrew), nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her niece, Mary Jenkins, great-niece April Walz (Randy), great-nephews Craig Jenkins and Dee Edmondson (Debbie).

Dora was a skilful horsewoman and strong swimmer and taught many of her young family members to ride and swim. Dora was a charter member of the Qualicum Beach Curling Club and a member of the Pithion Sisters and the Qualicum Beach Ceramics Club. Dora was also known for her delicious bran buns and blackberry jam which she feely gave to family and friends. An avid knitter, Dora gave many lap blankets to local old age homes and also many, many toques and dish cloths to family and friends.

A highlight in her life occurred last year when every member of her family was able to come to the Bowser Legion to help celebrate Dora’s 100th Birthday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
