It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and sister on May 26, 2007, at the age of 85 years. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Grant, in 1989, and will be lovingly rememberd by her son Douglas (Joanne) Penny of Nanoose Bay, daughter Tiah (Greg) Workman, of Nanaimo, grandchildren Graeme Workman, Sean Workman and Kalyn Penny, sisters Connie Luebker and Marion Reynolds, nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Fort Quappelle, Saskatchewan, on January 14, 1922, moving to Vancouver with her family when she was 3 years of age. After finishing high school, Mom worked at Boeing Aircraft during the war as a riveter and then went on to work as a clerk in the Treasury Department. Mom left her job to marry Dad in October, 1948. Mom and Dad moved from West Vancouver to Nanoose Bay in 1969. Mom was a marvelous cook, an even better baker, an consummate hostess and a wonderful seamstress.
The family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at The Gardens (Arranglen Gardens) for their loving care of Mom throughout her final years.
A private memorial service will be held for the family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom's memory to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
