It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Shoesmith on Sunday, January 7th in Qualicum Beach. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in January of 1998.
She is survived by her niece, Ann Collett (Trevor) of England and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Doreen served England with her time in the War as a Land Girl. She and Mike ran a pub in England before moving to Canada in 1967.
Doreen was a columnist and photo journalist in Cowichan prior to retiring to Parksville in 1986. She was an avid bridge player, and won many ribbons for her flowers and veggies at the Coombs Fair.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Rd, Parksville.
