Dori was born in New Minus, Nova Scotia, and lived in the Annapolis Valley, travelling back and forth to the Mississauga area of Ontario, and lived on Vancouver Island for over 50 years.
Dori was an accountant for many years, and her passions were family, music, and theatre. Dori shared her love of theatre with her late husband Paddy, and they were long-time members of Qualicum Beach Echo players, both winning many awards.
Dori shared her talents and passion through "Dori Mcgarrigles Musical Dinner Theatre," involving many family members and mentoring many young people as well as adults and was loved by many. Dori's musical and writing talents live on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dori is survived by her two children, Robert (Christine) Boyd and Julie (Phil) Cockayne, as well as her grandchildren Raya Boyd, Jacqui Boyd, and Conan Boyd; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a small private gathering held in a special place requested by her at a later date.
