In Loving Memory ~
With much sadness, the family of Doris Boivin must announce her passing. Doris was 1 of 3 children of Oscar & Marjorie Norrman, born in Winnipeg, Doris spent her early years in Manitoba.
In 1952 she married Gerald Vandusen and had 2 children prior to moving to B.C. in 1956 where they settled first in Vancouver and then eventually in North Vancouver for the next 30 years. During that period she raised her family & later worked as a bookkeeper for Allied Shipbuilder's.
In 1986, Doris married Oscar Boivin and in 1988 they decided to take on the adventure of purchasing a small motel in Qualicum Beach. They ran the Westerlea Motel for 12 years whereupon they decided to retire and they bought a home in that community until she suffered a major stroke in April of 2016. Since then Doris lived in Stanford Seniors Village in Parksville until the time of her passing.
Doris is survived by her brother Carl (Angie) Norrman, her daughter Linda (Richard)Thompson, son Rick (Melanie) Vandusen, step-son Alan (Carol) Boivin along with numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren all of whom are deeply saddened by the loss of this kind, warm hearted & loving person they knew and remember as Nana.
With the health restrictions currently in place the family is planning a celebration of life to be held in the summer of 2022 but no set plans have been made yet.
