Dorothea Kathleen Klaassen ( Kent )

April 21, 2011

Klaassen

of Parksville , BC was called home by the Lord on April 21, 2011 at the age of 86. Peggy (as she was known by everyone) was very active in the area. She used her experience as a registered nurse while working for the Hospice, was on the board of Trillium Lodge, arranged communion for all of the area nursing homes, was an active member of the Eastern Star, and sang in the choir at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Nanoose. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and used these skills to make hundreds of mittens, scarves and afghans which she donated to various missions and causes. She gathered and sorted used postage stamps with her husband Albert to raise money for cancer dressing material and worked making cancer dressings as part of the Eastern Star project which were donated to those in need. She loved to swim and walk, and did so until January of this year.

Peggy is survived by Albert, her loving husband of 63 years, her daughters Susan Miedzianowski and Barbara Klaassen; and son Dr. James Klaassen. Peggy was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service on May 14th at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Nanoose at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Cancer Society of BC in her name.
