Dorothy Helen Mary Patenaude

August 20, 1928 – April 23, 2016
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, Dorothy Patenaude on April 23rd in Qualicum Beach, BC at the age of 87.
Born in Macklin Saskatchewan, Dorothy was one of 10 children. She spent most of her childhood in Vancouver, married in 1953, and then moved to North Vancouver where she resided until 2006 before moving to Qualicum Beach.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Edward Allan Patenaude in 2000 and is survived by her 4 sons Brian (Deborah), Daniel, Ken (Jane), Tim (Theresa), her last remaining sibling, Bill Stouse of Colorado, her 7 grandchildren, Loren, Nicole (Brandon), Alana (Dan), Carlene (Craig), Alison, Taylor, Maria and 2 great grandchildren Dylan and Drew.
Dorothy was a devoted, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a compassionate caregiver to her husband and sister Kathleen. She was a talented knitter and avid bridge player who loved to play with the neighbourhood ladies and chauffeur extraordinaire to the many hockey, football and baseball games of her 4 boys and their friends while they were growing up. Dorothy also loved to hit the slot machines which she did until the last month of her life. An outing to the casino made her day, win or lose.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. C. Biglow and all the wonderful care aids/staff at Qualicum Manor who truly made our mom one of their family over the past 4 years.
A family gathering in Britannia Beach, BC to bring Dorothy and Eddie together again will be held in the near future.
