Dr. Isabel Rogers Lewis

August 14, 1914 ~ May 4, 2009

Long time Parksville resident

Dr. Isabel Lewis  passed away peacefully in her sleep after a short illness on May 4, 2009.

She was predeceased by her daughter Rachel and by her husband,  Dr. John Lewis who was well-known in Oceanside and  Nanaimo in the 1970’s and 1980’s as a musical director and conductor of choirs and concert bands. Isabel obtained her PhD in psychology from University of California at  Berkeley and taught in California for 20 years before moving to Canada in 1972 with her husband.

Isabel was born on August 7, 1914 in Pemberton, West Virginia.  She was survived by her daughter Sarah and son Joseph, her brother Joseph Rogers and sister-in-law Sheila, nieces and nephews,  and many friends in the community.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Canadian Association of Mental Health.

There is to be no funeral in accordance with Isabel’s wishes.  Friends of hers who wish to gather together are invited to a Tea at the Oceanside Arts Gallery  on  June 19, 2009 from 4:30 to 6:30pm.
