It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved “Papa” on April 26, 2016 at the age of 88. Jim is survived by his daughter, Kristin Bailey; granddaughter, Alyssa Horstead, and his brother, David Agar (Di Agar).

Born in Hull, England, Jim went to sea in 1944 at the age of 16. He met his future wife, Vesla Jensen in Oslo, Norway at Christmas of 1947. They were married in Hull in 1950. They moved to Canada 1953, finally settling in BC in 1973. Jim worked for Northland Navigation and Squamish Terminals. He also worked as a CBC Sound Technician for 2 years, despite having hearing loss.

Jim was the proud recipient of The Burma Star, The 1939-1945 Star, and The War Medal. He obtained captains papers in the Master Mariners by the age of 25 and was an active member of the Legion for over 50 years.
