1919-2016
The family of Eileen Grant is saddened to announce her death on September 18, one month after her 97th birthday. Eileen was the oldest child of Clara and Bill Hinton and born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 21, 1919. Eileen moved to Vancouver in 1947 and married Lawrence Grant. They built a home in North Vancouver and raised their five children, retiring to Parksville in 1984 where they built another home. After many wonderful years enjoying her new community, new and old friends, and family, Eileen moved into Arrowsmith Lodge in 2011. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Lawrence in 2011, and by her brother Jack and sister Kay. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Howard (Jan), Bruce (Wendy), Loree (Al Watson), Doug (Mel), and Randall as well as her grandchildren Josh (Corinna), Alahanna (Ed Bruce), Alex (Jaralyn), Genny, Keith, and Sophia in addition to her great-grandchildren, Neil, Leah, and Megan as well as nieces and nephews and friends. Many thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Arrowsmith Lodge who made Eileen’s last few years very comfortable. At Eileen’s request there will be no service but her family will come together at a future date to honour her memory. You’ve left us, And we feel the pain, But all you were You still remain, A daughter, a sister, A wife, a lover, A friend, a neighbour, A teacher, a mother. Those who are loved Are never really gone.
