October 29, 1932 - October 12, 2020
Eileen was born in Edberg, AB, the middle of 5 children born to Louie & Alma Olstad.
She moved with her family to Port Alberni at age 16, married Len Colibaba at 18 and the west coast became her home, the last 23 years in Parksville.
Over the years came several moves, and each home she made beautiful, warm and inviting. She was very creative and had a passion for keeping a lovely home, gardening, sewing, cooking and canning.
She had an appreciation for beautiful things and was often spotted at the local thrift shop eyeing up a pretty little glass dish or fun piece of clothing.
Eileen was a woman of strong faith and the Lutheran Church a big part of her life. She will be missed by everyone at Our Saviour Lutheran Church who appreciated her warmth and her talented, willing hands always available to help.
She touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with, whether it was someone she sat beside at a bus stop or chatting in a store line up.
Predeceased by daughter Debra in 1995, husband Len in 2002 and son-in-law Gordon Mitchell in 2003, she leaves to mourn their loss, her brother, Bud Olstad (Doris), her son Tim Colibaba, daughters, Valerie Mitchell, Chris Colibaba (Randy Senft), her beloved grandsons, David, Adam & Jordan Mitchell, her precious great Mitchell as well as her son-in-law Randy's sons, Daniel (Caitlin), Coleby (Stephenie) and dear great-grandbabies Scarlett and Desmond. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who thought the world of their Auntie Eileen.
A memorial service will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Parksville at a later, safer date.
Donations in Eileen's memory may be made to the B.C. Cancer Agency or the charity of your choice.
