MOONEY, Eileen Mary

May 20th 1948- March 11th 2016
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Eileen, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at NRGH. Born in Dublin, Ireland, she moved to Gainsborough, England at a young age; it was there that she met and married the love of her life. In the early 70’s, they, along with their young daughter, moved to the Queen Charlotte Islands, where their second daughter was born. Only a few short years later, they moved to their long-time home in Ucluelet, where they have lived happily ever since.
Eileen was an avid supporter of the logging shows she attended with her family, even winning the prestigious Can-Log “Fan of the Year” award in 1998. She was a familiar face around town, most notably at the Co-Op, where she loved to make her daily visits. The most precious thing in her life was her family.
Eileen is survived by her husband of over 49 years, Matt, her daughters, Tracey (Chris Littleton), and Sarah, her two grandchildren, Nicola and Kieran, sisters Maureen Jones, Florence Blow, and Marion Brennan, many nieces and nephews, and life-long friend Jennifer Sewell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 26th at the Ucluelet Community Centre at 1:00pm.
