July 1, 1941 - April 27, 2019
With sadness we announce the passing of Elaine Rose (Blais, Friss) Reynaud. After a 40 year struggle with heart complications including 22 years with a transplanted heart, she passed peacefully in palliative care with her family by her side.
Elaine was born to the late Remi and Virginia Blais July 1, 1941 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Elaine completed her studies in Saskatchewan and British Columbia to become a registered nurse. She spent a number of years working in obstetrics and provided care at various hospitals in Edmonton, AB, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Prince George, BC. She was particularly proud to have helped introduce Midwifery to the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton in the 60's.
Elaine married her beloved late husband Roland Reynaud in Edmonton in 1993. After his retirement they moved to Qualicum Beach where they enjoyed the beach, walking their dogs, gardening, and playing golf and bridge together.
Elaine enjoyed her children and grandchildren and was always interested in their happiness and welfare. She was an active member of her community and enjoyed her neighbors and friends as well as any animals she met. She couldn't pass a dog without wanting to pet it.
Elaine was a caring, compassionate, interested, intelligent and independent woman. She constantly thought of others and strived to keep learning about herself and the people and world around her. We will miss her laughter and easy smile and love.
Elaine is survived by her sons Robert (Shelley) and Ken (Romi) Friss, her stepdaughter Michelle (Jon) McEwan and her beloved grandchildren. Elaine would love it if you visited her and Roly's bench, located along Qualicum Beach, to say "hello" sometime.
Donations in Elaine's memory can be made to the B.C. Transplant Society @ www.transplant.bc.ca or the BC SPCA @ www.spca.bc.ca
