Eleanor passed away peacefully on May 4th, in Killam, Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband Rusty Shelly in 1979, also by her parents, John and Mary Blower (McLellan), her brothers, Cecil, Red and Tom Blower, her sister Marg McKinney and her beloved daughter Eleanor and son-in-law Darwin Bjornson.
Eleanor is survived by her grandchildren, Mike, Bill (Eddi), and Janet Bjornson, great grandchildren A.J. and Randi Bjornson, and Rye, Cole, and Clay Johnson, as well as Rusty’s daughter Lorelei Mandryk (Neil) grandchildren, Bill, Dean (Sara), and Laurie (David) Mandryk and great grandchildren, Justin, Adrianna, Josh and Haley Mandryk. She had many nieces and nephews and over the years, had many dear friends.
Eleanor was known to many as Mrs Yates, then Mrs Shelly, in her very long teaching career, where she was thought of by so many of her students as “the best teacher they ever had.”
There will be a service followed by tea and coffee at St. Anne’s/St. Edmunds Church, Wembley Rd. in Parksville at 11 am June 12th
