CROOKS, Elise (nee Forrest)

Passed away peacefully on January 28, 2003

in her 81st year, at Nanaimo Regional Hospital

She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband of 60 years, William Patrick; two sons, Patrick Forrest (Caroline) and William Gary (Margaret); her brother John Russell Forrest (Joanne); seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Elise was born in Port Alberni August 23, 1922 and is descended from a pioneer Alberni Valley family. Her grandfather moved to Alberni from Ontario around 1870 and constructed many of the Valley’s heritage buildings and lighthouses on the West Coast. Elise was a lady of quiet dignity and warmth with a gentle sense of humour and a zest for life. She travelled extensively with her husband Bill as his profession took them to exotic areas adjacent to many of the World’s forests and jungles.

In 1990 they moved to Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay where Elise honed her bridge skills and enjoyed golf with an emphasis on the social aspects.

Special thanks for their help to Dr. B. Bell, Dr. R. Love and the Nurses and staff on the fifth floor.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican, Nanoose Bay, at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003. The family requests that donations be made to cancer research in lieu of flowers.
