Elizabeth Little, aged 87, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
Born June 17, 1923, in Qualicum Beach, BC, to the late Simon and Dora Little, Miss Little ran the St. Andrews Lodge and Glen Cottages in Qualicum Beach for much of her 87 years and was still happily making tea for her guests at the Lodge.
Miss Little, along with several friends, formed the Qualicum Beach Historical Society and Museum in 1982; and was a lifelong member of the Chamber of Commerce. Miss Little was named town citizen of the year in 1983 and was also bestowed the honour of Freeman of the municipality in 1998.
“Tootie”, as she was also known, will be remembered, by all who knew her, for her quick wit, pioneering spirit, and the tenaciousness that allowed her to achieve so much in her many diverse endeavours.
Miss Little is survived by her nieces, Sandie Klein of Simi Valley, California and Cheryl Reay of Norwalk, California. She is also survived by her great-nephew Bob Klein (Gillian) and two great-nieces, Angela Romney (Brent) and Pamela Reay, and 5 great-grand-nieces and nephews; Jordan and Grayson Klein; and Zoe, Zane and Zeth Romney; and was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Dora Little; her brother, Robert “Gavin” Little; and niece, Arlene Danylciw.
Miss Little has been surrounded by so many loving friends and the family wishes to thank them for all they have done for her.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1st, at St. Steven’s United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach, BC. Burial will be held at the Qualicum Beach Cemetery following the service. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, 747 Jones Street in Qualicum Beach immediately following the burial.
