Elizabeth “Bessie” Gibbings

November 10, 1920 - May 11, 2016

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Bessie was born in Lacombe Alberta. She received her R.N. training at the Saskatoon City Hospital where she met her husband and soul mate Dr. J.S. (Jack) Gibbings. They married in 1945 and moved to Vancouver, Woodfibre, Port Alice, then settled in Taber, Alberta. Bessie and Jack retired in 1982 to Nanoose Bay. They travelled extensively and made Indio, California their winter home. After Jack’s passing in 1992 Bessie continued to spend the winters in California and summers in Parksville.

Survived by daughter Joan (Leo) Ressler, Cranbrook, B.C., their children Curtis (Trish) and great granddaughter Olivia, Lisa (Scott) Niedermayer and their children Logan, Jackson, Joshua & Luke. Son, Don (Linda) Gibbings from Summerland and their children Toni (Kerry) & Kara (Scott), son Bill (Treasure) Gibbings from Comox and their children Donna, Neil, Brianna and Jaclyn.

Bessie was an avid Bridge player, playing several times a week. She was a loyal Saskatchewan Roughrider and Anaheim Ducks hockey fan. She was loved and admired by everyone she met and will be missed by all. A service for Bessie will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1401 West Broadway, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 1H6
