October 10, 1928 - October 23, 2018
Elva Catherine Armstrong, born October 10th, 1928, passed away peacefully at Arrowsmith Lodge, Parksville, B.C. on October 23rd, 2018 at age 90.

Elva grew up in Ponoka, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents, Milton and Cleora Clements, and survived by her brother, Dr. Keith Clements, of Alamo, California.

During her long career as a registered nurse Elva worked at Vancouver General Hospital. Her quiet, non-judgmental manner was very comforting to patients. She also taught nursing at BCIT. Her wisdom, open-mindedness and use of non-traditional health care approaches made her a favorite teacher.

Elva retired in 1990 to Fairwinds at Nanoose, B.C. She built a dream home with her dear friend Leith Nance, who passed away June 10th, 2018. Golfing, especially in her early days at Fairwinds, and later, Aquacise classes kept Elva active. Elva adored her Siamese cats, especially Meeko. Crossword puzzles were a favourite pastime. Elva also enjoyed duplicate bridge and the company of her many friends at Fairwinds.

A celebration of Elva's life will be held at the Fairwinds Golf Club at Nanoose, B.C., at a date and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elva's memory to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association or the Haven Society in Nanaimo, B.C.
