"When tomorrow starts without me / Don't think we're far apart / For every time you think of me / I'm right here inside your heart."

After 92 years of selflessly caring for her family, relatives, friends, and the world in which she lived Enid Stevenson took that final step, which we all must take when our life on earth is over.

On June 4, 2018, while residing at Eagle Park Health Care Facility, Enid took her last breath with her son by her side.

She lived out her faith in the Gospel every day of her life by "Loving her Neighbour." Enid could just about get along with anyone: rich or poor, friend or stranger; no matter what the person's religion was or not. She had the gift of Hospitality and welcomed all she met.

Enid had a positive attitude throughout life. No matter how bad things might get in her life she didn't dwell upon them for she knew that there was always someone who was worse off than she was.

Enid was sometimes called "Enid of Assisi," for she had a way with animals. She loved to talk to - and care for - dogs, cats and birds.

As well as caring for her own family, Enid still found the time (and the energy) to care for others. She believed in the power of prayer and was a dedicated "Prayer Warrior" who prayed for anyone and everyone who needed prayer.

For many years Enid spent her life caring for the elderly. She was a Matron and cook at several care facilities in Burnaby and Victoria. She was the Activity Director at a Private Hospital in Vancouver until she retired to take care of her younger sister Rose.

Enid will be deeply missed by all her family, relatives and friends across Canada, in the United States of America, and in the United Kingdom. Her life and living have beautifully touched us all.

The Legacy1:

"She could not give her children gold,

So she gave them faith to have and hold.

She could not give them royal birth...

A name renowned throughout the earth.

But she gave them seeds and garden spot

And shade trees when the sun was hot.

She could not give a silver spoon

Or servants waiting night and noon.

She gave them love and a listening ear

And told them God was always near.

She could not give them ocean trips

Aboard majestic sailing ships.

But she gave them books and quiet time,

Adventures found in prose and rhyme.

She could not give them worldly things

But what she gave was fit for kings.

For with her faith and books and sod,

She made each child aware of God."

A special thank you to Dr. Richard J. Henderson for his medical care of Enid and friendship for the past 22 years.

A come and go tea will be held on June 23, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville, B.C. V9P 2A9.
