Evan Connor Cue

September 6, 1985 - November 11, 2022
It is with Huge Heartache that we announce the loss of Evan Cue, who passed away unexpectedly on Remembrance Day.
Evan was predeceased by his Gramma Cue, Uncle Bob and too many dear friends. He is survived by his parents, Susan Fichtler and Brad Cue (Diane MacKie) and his brothers, Jacob and Riley Cue and, his grampa Ron Fichtler. Also his Gramma Glenda and his Auntie Sue who were always there for him. Numerous Aunties, Uncles, cousins and his friends, many of whom considered Evan their best friend, will miss him immensely.
Evan was a happy, curious little boy who made us all laugh. In his younger years he enjoyed soccer and softball. Evan attended Parksville Elementary, Springwood Middle School and Ballenas. Many will recall his portrayal of "Big Jule" in the high school production of "Guys and Dolls". It was very ironic as he was the smallest in the cast, being only 15 yrs old amongst his senior classmates. After Ballenas, Evan moved on to PASS (Parksville Alternate Secondary School) where he found mentors that helped him graduate. He felt a kinship to many teachers and students there. A few years later he would study 2 years of Biology at VIU focussing on environmentalism. He was ridiculously smart, being able to Ace exams and essays while maintaining minimal attendance much to the annoyance of at least one professor. During this time as a starving student, he once found a $20 bill on the cafeteria floor and proceeded to find the owner!
Although life was not easy for Evan as an adult, he never complained and would always go out of his way to help others in spite of himself and his loved ones. He was notoriously late for most everything but there was always a good story to be had that usually involved doing a favor for someone else.
Like so many Evan struggled with substance use but this year had proved very hopeful, he had found his passion. He worked at the shelter, then supportive housing, at the same time completing two courses- Peer Support Worker and Support Worker. Evan was extremely proud of the work he did with OCAT (Oceanside Community Action Team). He was fiercely committed to helping the homeless and anyone that struggled.
For all of us that really knew Evan, he will be remembered for his intelligence, wit, and most of all Kindness. His wings came way too early in life - now he will be looking out after all of us!
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 - 5:00 in the Tidal Room at the Bayside Resort on Sunday November 27/22.
