Fairlene E. Maltby
May 17, 1928 – March 8, 2015
Fairlene passed away at the age of 86 on March 8, 2015 at Nanaimo Regional Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Howard; her children Arlene (Dave), Brian (Noreen), Cheryl (Norm); 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
The last year or so was not easy for Mom, but now her struggle is over. She had a meaningful and fulfilling life, with a loving family and many friends, careers with Bell and various Insurance companies, and we all enjoyed vacationing together, particularly to Lake Simcoe, Montreal for Expo 67, the Maritimes, Washington DC, and to Mom’s favourite destination: Barbados.
Fairlene was actively involved in quilting for many years and in earlier times, she loved to cook. She and Dad were brave to relocate to a new town, several times, in a new province, making friends along the way. Her brothers and sister adored her, and we are pleased to be receiving tributes from many other family members, not only on Mom’s side, but from Dad’s family too. They are much appreciated.
