Frances Wilson passed away on April 18, 2009 in Nanaimo after a brief illness with cancer

She leaves to mourn her sister Mary Duncan of Lethbridge, Alberta and two sisters-in-law Eva Pengilly of Lethbridge and Jean Pengilly of Chase, BC and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two stepsons Stuart and Barry Wilson, and step grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Irving Wilson, her parents Ben and Leota Pengilly, three brothers Dan, Bob and Tom, and two sisters Ruth Buhr of Calgary, Alberta and Joyce Starnes of Vernon, BC.

Frances was born in Raymond, Alberta on

June 7, 1914 and lived in southern Alberta until 1934 when she moved to New Westminster.

She began a career with the Abbotsford Matsqui Sumas News in 1936, eventually becoming a senior administrator. Frances was also an active member of the BC Weekly Newspaper Association from whom she received several awards.

In 1969 she married Irving Wilson and moved to Parksville, BC where she resided until her death.

Frances was dedicated to her community and served tirelessly in Abbotsford and Parksville United Churches. Frances was active in the golf community until age of 90 and leaves behind many good friends, some of whom were longtime bridge players and golfers.

A memorial service will be held in Parksville at Knox United Church on May 1 at 2:00 pm.
